1. Data Storage and Data Use
Kaarpool employs the highest standards to ensure a safe and secure user experience. We take the responsibility of protecting your personal information seriously, continuously improving our privacy practices and standards. We remain open to all feedback from our stakeholders and routinely engage with users to understand their needs and concerns better.
Your data, used primarily to enhance user experience and provide purpose-driven features, remains minimal and essential. We demonstrate our commitment to protecting student data. Within our system, we allow clients to control their preferences on sharing information with other users. Users own their data, exercising the ability to delete as needed.
2. Data Protection Measures
Our platform incorporates rigorous compliance measures borrowed from the payment and healthcare industry. This ensures robust protection of collected data. The platform is hosted on FERPA-compliant data centers, and we encrypt data at rest and in motion.
3. Location
Kaarpool utilizes location permissions to track the locations of drivers and children, displaying this information on the user’s device for the purpose of facilitating carpooling pickup, dismissal and drop-off arrangements, ensuring safety, etc. The collected data will be used to track riders (loved ones) for parents, guardians and stakeholders.
How We Use Location Data
- Driver Location Tracking: We track the real-time location of drivers to provide accurate pickup and drop-off information to stakeholders.
- Child Location Display: For child safety, we display the real-time location of children on the device of authorized and trusted stakeholders.
Third-Party Access
- We may share location data with mapping service providers, emergency services, etc. to facilitate the functionalities of the app. The location data is only collected when the app is being used.
4. Student Privacy Pledge
We uphold the commitment to safeguard student privacy. This includes not selling student information, not engaging in behaviorally targeted advertising using personal data, respecting “Do Not Track” flags, and maintaining transparent data collection and usage procedures.
We commit to:
✘We will not collect, maintain, use or share Student PII beyond that needed for authorized educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.
✘We will not sell student PII.
✘We will not use or disclose student information collected through an educational/school service (whether personal information or otherwise) for behavioral targeting of advertisements to students.
✘We will not build a personal profile of a student other than for supporting authorized educational/school purposes or as authorized by the parent/student.
✘We will not make material changes to School Service Provider education privacy policies without first providing prominent notice to the users and/or account holder(s) (i.e., the institution/agency, or the parent/student when the information is collected directly from the student with student/parent consent) and allowing them choices before data is used in any manner inconsistent with terms they were initially provided; and not make material changes to other policies or practices governing the use of Student PII that are inconsistent with contractual requirements.
✘We will not knowingly retain Student PII beyond the time period required to support the authorized educational/school purposes, or as authorized by the parent/student.
✔We will collect, use, share, and retain Student PII only for purposes for which we were authorized by the educational institution/agency, teacher or the parent/student.
✔We will disclose clearly in contracts or privacy policies, including in a manner easy for institutions and parents to find and understand, what types of Student PII we collect, if any, and the purposes for which the information we maintain is used or shared with third parties.
✔We will support access to and correction of Student PII by the student or their authorized parent, either by assisting the educational institution in meeting its requirements or directly when the information is collected directly from the student with student/parent consent.
✔We will maintain a comprehensive security program that is reasonably designed to protect the security, confidentiality, and integrity of Student PII against risks – such as unauthorized access or use, or unintended or inappropriate disclosure – through the use of administrative, technological, and physical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information.
✔We will provide resources to support educational institutions/agencies, teachers, or parents/students to protect the security and privacy of Student PII while using the educational service.
✔We will require that our vendors with whom Student PII is shared in order to deliver the educational service, if any, are obligated to follow these same commitments for the given Student PII.
✔We will allow a successor entity to maintain the Student PII, in the case of our merger or acquisition by another entity, provided the successor entity is subject to these same commitments for the previously collected Student PII.
✔We will incorporate privacy and security when developing or improving our educational products, tools, and services and comply with applicable laws.
5. Your Rights and Control Over Your Data Information
We would like to ensure you are fully aware of all your data protection rights. You have the right to:
- Request copies of your personal data.
- Request correction of any information you believe is inaccurate: You also have the right to request that we complete the information you believe is incomplete.
- Request erasure of your personal data: Under certain conditions, you have the right to request that we erase your personal data.

7. Law and Jurisdiction

Users must allow location permissions for us to track their location. Data is collected only when the app is in use. Additionally, we comply with App Tracking Transparency (ATT) requirements by requesting user permission before tracking their activity. Users will see a prompt asking for their consent to track their location data.
12. App Tracking Transparency (ATT) Compliance
This prompt will appear the first time the app attempts to track their activity. Users can manage their tracking preferences in the device settings at any time.
